Don Balon are claiming that the Welsh international, who has already been linked with moves to the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea this summer, would move in a straight swap for 26-year-old Eriksen in order to hijack Barcelona's bid for the Dane.

Barca are interested in Eriksen as a replacement for the departing Andres Iniesta but Real Madrid believe trading their 28-year-old winger for the £123m-rated Danish midfielder represents a better deal for Spurs.

Gareth Bale has previously stated he was keen on a return to the Premier League and having struggled to retain a place in the starting XI of Madrid, may see this as an opportunity to re-establish himself as one of the best players in the world at his old employers.

Whilst losing a star man for them over the past few seasons, this could well represent a statement of intent for Tottenham Hotspur too, adding a proven winner to their line-up to accompany Harry Kane who recently signed a new deal.
