Wilfried Bony's agent has just confirmed to Sky Sports News that Spurs tried to sign his client, but that talks broke down and the player will now be staying at Swansea. The player has been the subject of rampant transfer speculation for the whole of the summer after an incredible season in a struggling Swansea side last season. He was apparently available thanks to a transfer release clause in his contract that set his fee at around £24million, which would still have made the Ivorian a bargain. Meanwhile his agent has admitted that Huw Jenkins has acted professionally during the window, despite the chairman public criticising Bony's representatives for talking to other clubs. Spurs had also been widely expected to be making a move for Danny Welbeck, after the player became available when Radamel Falcao agreed to join Man Utd on loan for the season, but the England man now looks certain to join Arsenal instead. Do Spurs still need another striker? Their options at the minute are somewhat limited, with Soldado and Adebayor as the only real first team choices, and Harry Kane as back-up, so it would have made sense to bring another goal-scorer in to ease the burden. If that is to happen, it won't involve Bony.
