Asamoah Gyan has officially signed for Sven-Goran Eriksson's Shanghai SIPG with Sunderland set to cash in on the mega-millions deal. The flamboyant 29-year-old striker will cost the Chinese outfit around £14 million, with reports in the Middle East suggesting that the Black Cats could pocket almost £3 million after inserting a sell-on clause of up to 20%. Gyan is also in line for a huge payday with his £160,000 p/w deal at Al-Ain set to be replaced by Shanghai's contract, worth around £230,000-a-week. It's yet another big move for the Ghanaian star who controversially swapped Sunderland and the Premier League for the riches of the United Arab Emirates, despite the far poorer standard of the league. With pace to burn and a creative spark about everything he did for the Black Cats, Gyan was always going to be a hit in the Middle East, bagging 95 goals in 83 official matches for Al-Ain. He will now join Shanghai, currently second in the Chinese Super League, and will hope to boost their title hopes with just one point separating them from Beijing Guo'an at the top. Gyan will link up with former-England manager Eriksson, as well as former-Sunderland player Tobias Hysen, who is Shanghai's current top scorer with 11 goals this season.
