Sunderland have completed the transfer of Emanuele Giaccherini from Juventus, for a fee in the region of 7.5 million euros (£6.5 million), Juventus.com has confirmed. The Black Cat club's official website, SAFC.com, has revealed that Giaccherini has signed a four-year-contract on Wearside after weeks of speculation on his future following the Confederations Cup. Giaccherini impressed in the recent Confederations Cup scoring a superb solo effort against eventual champions Brazil, as Italy finished 3rd. The Italian winger, who has 14 Azzurri caps to his name, wanted to play more regular football to get into the national squad for next year's World Cup in Rio and so, has moved on from Italy to England. Juve have reluctantly accepted the player's wishes and the offer from Sunderland which has allowed Giaccherini to move on. In his last year with the Bianconeri the 28-year-old became a fringe player in the squad only making 17 league appearances. Though the player has been part of the side that have won back-to-back Serie A titles, he now becomes part of the Paolo Di Canio revolution in England. The former Cesena player completed his medical in Italy on Monday and met up with the rest of the Black Cats later that day, as they continue their preseason preparations near Lake Garda.
