The Sunderland Echo claim Sunderland have made Manchester City striker John Guidetti one of their major summer targets. The North East side have been tracking the forward for almost a year now but this summer, it appears that the Black Cats will make an official move for the youngster. Wearsiders boss Paolo Di Canio has recently signed Jozy Altidore to boost the Sunderland attack but with Sky Sports reporting that, fellow Black Cat, Danny Graham is set to secure a season-long loan move to Hull City, a move for the Swede is on the cards. Sunderland will face stiff competition from the 21-year-old's former side Feyenoord though. The Dutch side had Guidetti on loan two seasons ago where he scored 20 goals in 23 games causing a flurry of Europe's top scouts to take a look at him. The Eredivisie outfit hope to beat the Black Cats to the signing of Guidetti but it appears that Sunderland are the front runners. However John Guidetti could be given an opportunity at his parent club Manchester City after positive signs were sent out by Manuel Pellegrini on the player's future. It is unsure whether City would allow the Swedish international to leave permanently or on loan if he is not needed at the Etihad, however what is notable is that Sunderland will be vying for his signature.
