Sunderland Transfer News: Julio Cesar Could Join On Loan?
Sunderland Head Coach Gus Poyet could turn to QPR's Brazilian international goalkeeper Julio Cesar to boost his side's Premier League survival hopes. Poyet has identified a few positions that he wants to improve and it is thought that between the sticks is one of them.

"I'm working on changing things in January, that's for sure. But that doesn't affect my thinking about now.'There are things going on behind the scenes in terms of the transfer window - that hasn't changed - and I'm confident they will happen. How big the changes will be, I don't know just yet. But we need results now, in our next few games, and it is about personality and attitude. There is a gap between us and the other teams, so we need to be spot on."The 34 year old former Inter Milan keeper wants to leave Loftus Road to bolster his chances of making Brazil's World Cup squad, with next year's tournament of course being a special one in his home nation. QPR boss Harry Redknapp has already confirmed that he is prepared to let Cesar leave. He told the Fulham Chronicle in November:
"We wouldn't stand in Julio's way and we aren't asking a fee for him. He needs to play and he could play anywhere for any team. He's just been unlucky. Rob's been fantastic and I can't take him out of the team. However, Julio's a great guy, and he needs to play soon, so he can play in the World Cup."QPR would rather see Cesar leave on a permanent basis, however, his huge wages could prove to be a problem, leaving a six month loan deal as the most likely departure. Should the deal go through, Kieren Westwood could leave The Stadium Of Light. The Irish keeper has already stated in the past that he doesn't want to sit on the bench, with Vito Mannone keeping him out of the squad and of course Simon Mignolet last season.
