Sunderland Transfer News: Poyet Moves For Former Magpie?

By Joseph Speckman /

Sunderland Head Coach Gus Poyet could make a move for former Newcastle United winger Charles N'Zogbia as he looks to boost his squad ahead of an important relegation survival. Frenchman N'Zogbia spent five years on Tyneside and could return to the North East this January in red and white this January, after falling out of favour at Aston Villa. The 27 year old is said to be one of a few players on Poyet's radar, who had this to say regarding transfers:
"The problem with putting a number on players is that I would like maybe three or four but it's always so unpredictable," "The reality is, it's almost pointless saying so at the outset because things can change so much. Initially though, three or four is the idea."
Poyet has already added 23 year old Spaniard Marcos Alonso to his team this week, who joins on loan from Fiorentina, and the former Bolton and Real Madrid left back is expected to make his debut on Sunday against Carlisle United in the Budweiser FA Cup. Poyet is happy with his first addition since joining Sunderland:
"I was always looking for a player at left back or on the left side so I'm delighted he's here," "It's competition for Andrea Dossena who is the only recognised left back we have here €“ they are different sort of players so it helps us with our options."
In other news, Celtic boss Neil Lennon has said that he would certainly be interested in Steven Fletcher given the chance, but he has not made any contact with Sunderland for the striker and doesn't believe that any sort of deal or talks will happen between the respective parties.
