Talksport reports that Lazio are interested in signing Sunderland midfielder Sebastian Larsson. Larsson, who arrived at the Stadium of Light in 2011, has only a year left to run on his contract at Sunderland and it is unsure whether the club will offer the Swede an extension. Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio is said to be weighing up the idea of selling the 28-year-old as the Italian continues his major summer overhaul. The midfielder was not as prolific last season as his first on Wearside as he only managed one goal in 38 league games compared to seven in 32 in the 2011/12 season. The Coppa Italia champions, Lazio, are looking for versatile players for their upcoming season as they continue building and Larsson could fit the bill. Larsson was used mainly as a centre-midfielder last season and has been used as a winger and a right-back in his time in the north east. It was widely reported that the Sweden international would prefer to play out wide but was happy to play where ever. The former Birmingham City midfielder has played 70 Premier League games for the Black Cats, scoring 8 goals.
