Sunderland Transfers News: Fabio Borini Undergoing Medical
Sky Sports, who have confirmed that Italian striker Fabio Borini is currently undergoing a medical ahead of a loan move to Sunderland, to join up with compatriot Paolo Di Canio and his new-look squad. The deal was reported yesterday by the Metro, who also said that Brendan Rodgers had no intention of sending Borini out on loan:
'There would be a queue of clubs wanting to take him if he was available. We want to keep a strong group, it's a very long season for us. 'You've got Daniel, Fabio, Aspas and Luis to come in a number of weeks. We want to make sure the competition in the group is there.'But the fresh reports of the medical seem to suggest that the manager has changed his mind. Sunderland are without a win yet this season in the league, and Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Crystal Palace brought stinging comments from the new manager, particularly for striker Ji Dong-Won, who he accused of pulling out of a header when he could have scored in the first half. The Korean striker was withdrawn at half-time and looked visibly upset, and his performances so far this season could have been a big factor in Di Canio's decision to go after Borini. Borini's season last year was badly interrupted by injury, and he has failed to establish himself in the first team at Anfield, with the loan signing of Victor Moses likely to limit chances even further. Should Borini be sent out on loan? Is Sunderland the best option for the striker? Share your opinions below.
