Sunderland Winger Linked With £1.5 Million Championship Switch
The Black Cats want a permanent departure.

The 25-year-old is wanted by the two Championship clubs on loan, though Sunderland would ideally want to sell the player as quickly as possible for a £1.5 million asking price, cutting their losses on last season's investment. Liam Bridcutt was the other former-Brighton man drafted into Sunderland by Gus Poyet, but while the Black Cats would also welcome offers for the midfielder, Buckley appears to be inching closer to the exit. The winger failed to make much of an impact during his Premier League debut season, starting just 9 times and making 13 substitute appearances with no goals and only 2 assists to his name. He is seen as deadwood by Dick Advocaat who is eager to move players out in order to create his own squad. Leeds could be the most likely destination for Buckley, with their manager Uwe Rosler openly stating that he is looking for talent on the flanks, and with Buckley's Championship ability unquestioned, he could certainly fit the bill if the price is right or if Sunderland are willing to loan him out with view to a permanent switch.
