Sunderland's 10 All-Time Premier League Goal Scorers

An interesting mix...

By Ryan Elliott /

Let's face it - Sunderland aren't renowned for being a well-oiled goal machine. The Premier League strugglers have been clinging on for dear life in recent seasons, and face another fight in the coming months to remain in England's top flight. In spite of their struggles, however, there have been a few bright moments on Wearside in recent years. We've witnessed the Peter Reid (sort of) glory years, the promotion push under Roy Keane, mid-table stability under Steve Bruce and the Capital One Cup final under Gus Poyet. Clutching at straws, you say? Not at all... Sunderland fans love a cult hero, and they love a prolific goalscorer - they just rarely get one. Several players have threatened to step up to icon status during the Premier League era (many of them are in this piece), though less than a handful are now held in high regard by Sunderland fans. So who has banged in the most goals in England's top flight for the Black Cats? Are there any surprise names? Here's Sunderland's 10 all-time Premier League top scorers, featuring three of their current squad, a classic 'little and large' striking duo and the man dubbed as 'Messi and Pelé' by fans on Wearside.

10. Sebastian Larsson (2011-Present) - 12 Goals

With 12 goals, Sebastian Larsson stands as Sunderland's 10th highest Premier League goalscorer of all time. Renowned for his crafty set-pieces, the Swede managed eight goals during his first campaign on Wearside - including a spectacular volley at Anfield on his debut. In what is now his fifth season with the club, the midfielder is just shy of 150 league appearances - though he is yet to find the net so far in 2015/16.
