Transfer Deadline Day: Every Premier League Club's Best Signing Of The Window
The winner of this Transfer Window is North London... both sides of it.
Another tense, shocking transfer window has come to a close. We've seen huge deals fall through at the final hurdle, multiple teams break their club record transfer fees, and massive sides make no significant additions to their squads.
Some of the more notable deals of deadline day include Kieran Tierney's switch from Celtic to Arsenal and Giovani Lo Celso finally making his move to Spurs after having terms agreed for weeks. In fact, it was Tottenham and Arsenal that dominated not just deadline day, but the entire window with both North London sides strengthening their squads significantly. However they were far from the only ones that had a fantastic window.
Everyone from the newly promoted teams to the Premier League champions have at least one good player to take note of this season. From much-needed rotation players to bona fide game-changers, these are every Premier League club's best signing of the summer.
20. Arsenal - Nicolas Pepe
If there were ever an example of a single signing saving an entire transfer window, Nicolas Pepe would be it. Before his transfer, Arsenal were stuck with a season-long loan for Dani Ceballos and William Saliba, who will be unavailable this season after returning to St Etienne on loan. Other than that, Arsenal were unwilling to spend big on any significant transfers... or so it seemed.
After being fruitless in their pursuits of the likes of Zaha and Tierney, Arsenal launched a staggering £72M bid out of the blue and claimed what many would see as the best signing of the summer. Arsenal fans have been foaming at the mouth over the prospect of a front 3 of Pepe, Lacazette and Aubameyang, and it would be hard not to given the pace and ability each player possesses.
With 33 goals and assists in 37 appearances, Pepe's quality is undoubted, and at 24 years of age, he is sure to hit the prime of his career within a few seasons. On deadline day, Arsenal also strengthened their defence with the signings of Tierney and David Luiz, so fans can finally hope to see a sturdy defence support one of the strongest attacking forces in the league.
