The first Flyweight title defense in UFC history is coming up this weekend on the UFC on Fox: Johnson vs. Dodson. Demetrious Johnson (16-2-1) had a rocky road through the Flyweight tournament after a controversial majority draw in the first Semifinal with Ian McCall (11-3-1) and then a Split Decision victory over Joseph Benavidez (16-3) in the Final. Now he faces off against #1 contender, John Dodson (14-5), this Saturday in Chicago. My co-host, fellow WhatCulture.com contributor Mitchell Stucky, and I cover the title fight and all of the action leading up in this edition of the Getting Lucky MMA Podcast.Episode (020) Summary: Nearly all of the fighters on the prelims are coming off a loss, leaving us with one of the most lackluster undercards in recent memory. Despite that there are some big names, including Ryan Bader (14-3) facing off against Vladimir Matyushenko (26-6) and Clay Guida (29-13) vs. Hatsu Hioki (26-5-2). The main card starts with a Featherweight bout between Erik Koch (13-1) against Ricard Lamas (12-2). Look for Koch to aggressively pursue a submission, but we predict Lamas takes the UD. Next up is a Fight of the Year candidate between Anthony "Showtime" Pettis (15-2) fighting Donald "The Cowboy" Cerrone (19-4, 1). This will be a stand-up battle between one of the most versatile strikers in the Lightweight division against one of the most technical. This fight can go either direction, but we're tipping Cowboy with a decision victory. Next, it's old school vs. new school as Quinton "Rampage" Jackson (32-10) faces off against Glover Teixeira (19-2). Glove has been red hot, riding a 17-fight win streak with twelve knockouts. Rampage has looked decidedly pedestrian since returning from the set of the A-Team back in 2010. He's 2-3 since and riding a two fight losing streak. Unless Rampage shows that he's diversified his striking game, willing to use his wrestling again, and has fixed a faulty gas tank expect Teixeira to win this fight handily. The main event features two high-caliber wrestlers. We give the edge to Johnson (aka Mighty Mouse) over Dodson for the higher level of career competition and a slicker ground game. Dodson won't be able to use the power that earned him six knockouts against Johnson, who expert to exert relentless take down pressure throughout their match.
