Villareal vs Manchester City - Match Preview

Man City travel to Spain tonight for a crucial Champions League encounter hoping not to rely on a late winner from Sergio Aguero as they had to in the reverse fixture.

Villareal tonight? Manchester City are on such a high, it's difficult to imagine them losing to anyone right now although in truth their form in the Champions League hasn't been of the quality that will see them go far when it comes to the quarter/semi-final stages. As easy as they are finding life domestically right now, in the Champions League it has been a different story and they actually only picked up their first ever victory in the competition in the reverse fixture with Spanish outfit Villareal last month after slugging it out for a draw with Napoli at home and losing to Bayern Munich. In the pre-match press conference manager manager Robert Mancini has spoke of how important Sergio Aguero's late winner from the last tie was and how it has changed the complexion of Group A completely and it's going to be a tight finish to the finish line. Man City are third in their group, 1 point behind Napoli in second (and they still have to play them away from home) and three points behind table toppers Bayern Munich. This is a huge game for City tonight. Obviously defeat is unthinkable and a draw wouldn't be a good result either in truth, so going to be interesting to see how open they play. If nothing else they certainly won't want to leave it as late as they did in the game against Villareal at home.

Mario Balotelli is finally available to play a European game after serving his three match man that carried over from the Europa League last season. Even if he was fit (which he isn't) Owen Hargreaves wouldn't be able to play as he has a calf injury. At this point it goes without saying that there's no place for Carlos Tevez. But it's not like they haven;t got enough unbelievable talent to pick from...

Line-ups from;

Manchester City (from): Hart, Kompany, Richards, Kolarov, Lescott, Y Toure, De Jong, Milner, Barry, Silva, Balotelli, Dzeko, Aguero, Savic, Clichy, Johnson, Zabaleta, Nasri, K Toure, Pantilimon. Prediction: 0-2 - Another tough fixture for City but Aguero and Silva are so used to playing at this ground and against the Spanish way of playing that they will unluck Villareal for a fairly comfortable win.
