Sky Sports News have just confirmed that Steve Clarke is currently attempting to bring Everton striker Victor Anichebe to the Hawthorns, to join Sunderland forward Stephane Sessegnon, who has been subject to a £6m bid. Clarke has already brought in Morgan Amalfitano in on loan from Marseille for the rest of the season, and is looking to bolster his attacking options further after his side failed to score int he third consecutive game against Swansea yesterday, when they were beaten 2-0. Last night, MailOnline said that West Brom had made a bid of £3.5million for the powerful Nigerian striker, who is contracted until June 2015. That bid was turned down, according to MailOnline, but Sky Sports News have just confirmed that the Baggies are in talks with the Merseyside club for the striker. Any deal would have to be permanent, as West Brom have now used up their allocated number of temporary signings. He would bring explosive pacy to the Baggies front line, and scored 8 goals in 32 appearances during the 2012/13 season, keeping big money signings Nikica Jelavic out of the side around Christmas, and picking up the Young Player of the Season award last year. Anichebe could replace Peter Odemwingie, who Sky Sports News are also confirming is in talks with Cardiff City about a move.
