West Brom Transfer News: Ben Foster Completes Switch

Keeper completes switch to The Baggies.

Ben Foster has completed his move from Birmingham City to West Bromwich Albion. Foster spent last season on loan at the midlands club and the Baggies have been chasing his signature on a permanent basis for some time. He was voted the club's player of the year last season and played a major role in the club securing a place in the top 10 of the Premier League. He had also been strongly linked with a move to QPR, but the Londoners signed Robert Green from West Ham instead. Foster had always maintained he would be happy to stay at West Brom, however, and this afternoon confirmed the news of his transfer on Twitter.

It is thought West Brom have paid a fee in the region of £4 million to secure Foster's services on a permanent basis. He has signed a three-year contract. West Brom head coach Steve Clarke said: "Ben's been a priority signing all summer. His performances last season were exceptional and it was important for the club to strike a permanent deal for him. It's a great signing for me and an even better one for the club." Albion will now turn their attention to securing the services of a new left-back following the departure of Nicky Shorey.
