Sam Allardyce's squad boosted by the short-term acquisitions of Arsenal's Lansbury and Tottenham's Bentley...

Just hours after letting Scott Parker leave Upton Park for Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has gone back to the North London club to take forgotten man David Bentley on loan for the season to bolster their midfield options. Bentley is undoubtedly talented, though his move to Birmingham City last season hardly proved fruitful, and he will hope that the step down to the Championship, and the opportunity to play in a team tipped for success will suit him better and inspire something of a resurgence in his fortunes after sitting on the fringes at Spurs for a couple of years. And joining him in the rebuilt West Ham midfield for the rest of the season will be Arsenal youngster Henri Lansbury, who has also gone to the club on a season-long loan deal, having enjoyed relatively successful short-term deals at Scunthorpe, Watford and Norwich City during the past few years. In other transfer news, West Ham have also signed former Fulham midfield enforcer Papa Bouba Diop to take Sam Allardyce's signings to 10 for this window.
