West Ham Transfer News: Hammers Interested In Loic Remy?
Daily Star. Manager Sam Allardyce saw a move for Estudiantes forward Duvan Zapata collapse this week and is keen to add to his attacking options for the new campaign, sentiments which were echoed by Sullivan. The 64-year-old said:
"We are happy with the rest of the team - all we need now is pace and goals. We need goalscorers not defenders."Club-record signing Andy Carroll is continuing his recovery from a heel injury sustained toward the end of last season and will miss the start of Premier League when it gets back underway next month. That leaves the Hammers a bit lightweight up front and Remy, who only signed for QPR in an £8 million deal in January, has emerged as Allardyce's No.1 target after a work permit for Zapata was rejected. Hoops manager Harry Redknapp is keen to keep hold of the Frenchman, but will listen to offers if one comes in that is the equivalent of the Loftus Road outfit's January outlay. The 26-year-old, who scored six goals in 14 appearances for the Londoners last season, has also attracted interest from Tottenham and Newcastle United. West Ham came close to signing Remy in 2010 and even agreed an £11.5 million fee with his then-club Nice, but the deal fell through when he instead opted for a move to Marseille.
