West Ham United are planning to make a bid for Sunderland striker Fraizer Campbell. The Sun reports that The Hammers are preparing to offer £2 million for the former Manchester United forward who made his England debut in the 3-2 friendly defeat at the hands of Holland in February. The 24-year-old just missed out on selection in Roy Hodgson's England Euro 2012 squad. Campbell moved to Sunderland in a £3.5 million move (potentially rising to £6 million) in July 2009 but his time at the Stadium of Light has been plagued by injuries. He has scored 5 times in 38 games at Sunderland but has only played 7 times in the past two seasons, contributing just one goal, which made his selection in the latter days of Fabio Capello's international reign even more bizarre. Black Cats boss Martin O'Neill has yet to make any deals in the transfer window but is believed to have limited funds available to change Steve Bruce's team into a Martin O'Neill side, unless he sells. A £2 million deal for Campbell would mean Sunderland have made a loss on the player but with doubts over his ability to stay fit and his large wages, he may decide to sell in order to fund new recruits.
