Why Malcolm Will Be A Big Hit At Barcelona

The 21-year-old Brazilian will light up the Nou Camp for years to come.

Just when Roma fans thought their club had pulled off a real coup in nabbing Brazilian forward Malcolm from Ligue 1 side Bordeaux, Barcelona nipped in at the last minute and snatched the deal from under the Italians' noses. It was a cheeky play, but it's one that could massively pay off for both club and player in the years to come.

Regularly rated as one of the best young talents in world football over the last couple of years, Malcolm has all of the mental, physical, and technical attributes to develop into a world class player and is precisely the sort of confident, forward-thinking attacker that will fit right in among his new Blaugrana colleagues.

Barca have been on a bit of Brazilian splurge in 2018, with Malcolm representing their third big buy of the year after Arthur from Gremio and Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool back in January. Coutinho is, of course, the most established and experienced of the three players, but there's every chance that young Malcolm could surpass his esteemed compatriot in the years to come.

Highly rated in France, Malcolm joined Bordeaux aged 18 back in 2016 for the modest sum of just €5m. His signing proved to be a masterstroke, with then-Bordeaux boss Willy Sagnol quickly convinced by the Brazilian's talents and eager to integrate him into his first eleven.
