Wolves Swoop In On Everton Transfer Target
Both Wanderers and The Toffees want the La Liga hitman.
HITC (via Brazilian publication UOL) are reporting that Wolverhampton Wanderers have made an offer to La Liga outfit Real Sociedad for 26-year old striker Willian José.
The interesting thing here is that Wolves are offering around £30 million for the Brazil international hitman, which falls short of the reported £52.6 million Everton were being asked to pay for his services earlier this week.
Originally, Sociedad were keen to hold out for as much money as possible from Premier League clubs. José has a release clause in his contract, and that's why the number linked with Everton was so high.
Now, the Spanish side are apparently willing to reduce their initial demands. That means Wolves could be about to swoop in and beat Everton to the punch for a man The Chronicle claim both Everton and Newcastle wanted last summer.
José's goalscoring has hit double figures in each of the past four seasons for Sociedad, Las Palmas and Real Zaragoza. He's the kind of nuisance up front that would serve Wolves well in the Premier League, but Everton won't want to miss out on one of their prime summer targets either.
