The 2013 World Matchplay runner-up, Adrian 'Jackpot' Lewis, will go into this tournament full of confidence as he looks to go one better than last year and lift the title. The world number three has had an up and down season, winning the UK Open but then failing to impress during the Premier League. He was so impressive at the UK Open and then so disappointing during the Premier League that it is hard to tell which Adrian Lewis will turn up in Blackpool. He has one of the smoothest throws in the game and if he gets into a rhythm he will be a threat to the likes of van Gerwen and Taylor. Lewis has an ideal first round draw, facing débutante and world number 47, Andrew Gilding. Gilding's best PDC performance came in 2011 when he won the Gibraltar Open, but other than that he has struggled somewhat at the top level. Jackpot should have no trouble in progressing past Gilding and once he does his usual confidence and occasional arrogance will come out, making him a danger to whoever he plays.
