Those naughty boys and girls at Audi have gone and done the unthinkable they have poked fun at the competition. Not only that but they have harnessed the pull of two actors currently affiliated with a separate manufacturer due to their current film release. In laymans terms; Audi are mocking Mercedes, by using two actors who are part of the Star Trek franchise, which is locked in a sponsorship deal with Mazda. Clear as mud? Anyway, the advert is ridiculously funny; featuring an array of nods to the two Spocks, complete with Vulcan grips and even has time to reference Nimoys cult classic song The Hobbit. It is a wide palm slap in the face from Audi to Mercedes, but it is done with enough tact that it seems more of a ribbing than anything else. This is all helped along by the fact that the advert is about two rival actors, without actually being about that at all. Get it? Nimoy is the doddery old Merc, Qunito is the new sleek Audi.
