10. 3 Body Problem

In many ways, 3 Body Problem has all the hallmarks of the various alien invasion stories you've seen before, following a gaggle of scientists forced to contend with an impending, space-based cataclysm. 

Based on the novel by Liu Cixin and anchored by a committed ensemble - including Game of Thrones alums John Bradley and Liam Cunningham alongside a deadpan Benedict Wong - 3 Body Problem creates a world as vibrantly constructed as it is thrilling, acting more like a procedural than your standard sci-fi fare. 

Not all the show's first season works - there's a slight emotional detachment that leaves some of its characters drifting through space, their plight not as urgent as it could be - but for the most part 3 Body Problem keeps you seated with stunning visuals and a brisk pace that allows its twists to land with a solid punch. 

It's only on its first season, so these flaws, already overshadowed by the show's highs, may just be ironed out going forward. The foundation for something truly great is strong with this one.
