10 Awesome Sci-Fi TV Shows That Won't Return Until 2021
10. Star Trek: Picard
Star Trek: Picard reinvigorated a legendary franchise by bringing back one of its greatest characters. We are, of course, talking about Jean-Luc Picard as Patrick Stewart reprised what is arguably his most famous role for the first time in almost two decades.
A real event-series, the sequel is set 20 years after the events of Star Trek: Nemesis and details the character's emotional development as he still processes the fallout of the 2002 film. In spite of occasional flaws, it proved to be one of the year's most compelling character-driven stories and it goes without saying that it lived up to the larger-than-life reputation that preceded it.
CBS All Access anticipated the resounding success before it even happened and ordered both second and third seasons prior to the show's debut. Filming of the second season was expected to begin between March and June, but Hollywood's shut down before the show got a chance to start shooting has left its plans up in the air.
Though there's still a chance that it could return to screens at the end of the year, given the scale of this show it's likely that the studio will use the unplanned extra time to their advantage in order to make Season 2 as larger-than-life as possible.
