10 Awkward TV Couples Who Were Hilariously Mismatched

6. George And Marisa Tomei (Seinfeld)

I understand that George Costanza and Marisa Tomei never actually became a couple, but I liked that The Cadillac episode tacitly acknowledged that every relationship George was in was pretty much as unrealistic as George getting together with the real actress as Tomei played herself. The show points out time and time again that George deserves to be alone, but he continues dating attractive girls despite being 20,000 Leagues under them. Costanza is a petty, balding, narcissistic, and little man. That's the point, I get it. But my guess is the show needed pretty ladies in order to appease the network, and it really takes you out of the show on repeat viewings when George refuses to be satisfied with women who are both better people and more attractive than him. George is a curmudgeon, but unlike on Curb Your Enthusiasm where Larry David is reproached before he engages in coupling, George nearly always gets with the girl before they realize what a little s*** he is. It's okay though, Seinfeld is still quite a show.
