10. The Castle Ambush

Buffy season eight went all out when it came to big battles. As the first season to exist in a comic medium, it meant it could go further and do more without the restrictive TV budget.

At the beginning of the series we learn that armies of Slayers exist around the world and, due to their power, the military view them as a terrorist threat. Buffy and the Scoobies currently reside in a Scottish castle with various witches and supernatural allies.

The first big battle of the season sees the castle being invaded by an army of zombies controlled by Amy Madison, who casts a spell on Buffy to put her in a dream state from which she can only be awoken with true love's kiss. It's a cheesy fairytale spell, but it's due to this that we eventually learn that Satsu the Slayer is in love with Buffy. The two of them later go on to have a fling when Buffy decides to explore her sexuality with her.

While Buffy is unconscious, Willow returns to fight against Amy and the two of them fly around and shoot magic at each other. It's all-out war and would have been amazing in live-action. It just went to show how much further things could be pushed without a budget, even if it came across a little silly.
