10 Best Final Seasons In TV History

6. The Sopranos (Season 6)

The godfather of the small screen, this mafia-crime drama was a staple of American television at the time of its airing, as we followed Tony Soprano and his family through the underworld of New Jersey at the turn of the century. With some hard-hitting storylines throughout its run, the show came to a head with its final season as the Soprano crime family finally suffer the consequences of their actions.

The season was split into two, with the first focusing on the family's efforts to seek redemption, before they finally come into conflict with their enemies in New York in the second part. There's tragedy along the way (no fan of the show will ever forget Chris's death in particular) and it almost seems by the end Tony may be a changed man.

The ending itself will always be controversial, but its ambiguity lends itself to interpretations of how you think it should have gone. Such was the unpredictability of Tony Soprano's life, it really only makes sense his ending should be left with a big question mark.
