10 Best Horror TV Shows Of 2020

10. JU-ON: Origins

Known as The Grudge outside of its homeland, JU-ON is one of the most famous horror franchises to have emerged from Japan in recent times, with a whopping seven films to its name since the first release back in 2000.

With such a legendary platform already provided, it was unsurprising to see Netflix dive in, acquire the rights and produce an exclusive series in 2020. JU-ON: Origins was released over the course of July, featured six episodes roughly 30 minutes long, and revolved around a paranormal investigator named Yuseo investigating a supposedly cursed house.

Even though the scares can be a little hit or miss at times, Origins really stands out from the crowd by being one of the most memorably gruesome releases in the year. Whilst almost every episode has a scene or moment that is sure to be unsettling to watch, one particular sequence in the fourth episode is sure to be the most stomach-churning thing any audience member is likely to have seen over the course of the year.

Japan has established a wonderful reputation for producing some of the most wild and unnerving pieces of horror over the years, and thankfully JU-ON: Origins is not only respectful to its roots on the big screen, but the type of horror made famous in its homeland.

For a powerfully unnerving and authentic experience, JU-ON: Origins is an absolute go-to.
