10 Best Horror TV Shows Of 2024

10. Dead Boy Detectives

Neil Gaiman's Dead Boy Detectives is a devilishly entertaining supernatural detective series following a pair of ghosts (George Rexstrew and Jayden Revri) who decide to remain on Earth and run their own supernatural detective agency. Better yet, the show is set within the same continuity as Netflix's other splashy Gaiman adaptation, The Sandman. If that doesn't hook you, nothing will.

This is an expertly calibrated fusion of otherworldly detective fare and relationship drama, brought to life by its well-realised characters, pitch-perfect performances, and whip-smart dialogue as fans of Gaiman's have come to expect.

Charm just oozes off this thing, braced between genuinely dark, serious-minded themes and raucous humour, while also flying the flag loudly and proudly for LGBTQ+ representation. Despite critical and audience acclaim, however, Netflix infuriatingly cancelled Dead Boy Detectives after just a single eight-episode season. All the same, this lone volume of episodes is still well worth watching, whether you're a teen or old enough to be the parent of one.
