10. Hide (Season 7, Episode 10)
The Doctor and Clara drop by Caliburn House in 1947 hoping to see the house's famous ghost; which Alec Palmer, and his empath assistant Emma Grayling, have been communicating with. However, the Doctor quickly begins to realise the ghost is more than she seems - resulting in a rescue operation, and a trip into a ghostly pocket dimension.
This is one of the best ghost story episodes of recent Who. The manor house looks amazing inside and out, there are a couple of genuine jump scares, and Matt Smith’s Doctor getting spooked is fun to watch. Meanwhile, the supporting actors - Dougray Scott as Alec and Jessica Raine as Emma – both do an excellent job of bringing their quiet but likeable characters to life. All in all this a spooky, fun tale with a happy ending.
