10 Best New TV Shows Of 2016 Ranked

10. Horace & Pete

Stand-up comedian and creator of the acclaimed sitcom "Louie", Louie C.K., has brought us a drama-comedy series starring himself and Steve Buscemi. The show is set in an old New York bar and revolves around the family that owns it, mainly the two brothers (C.K. and Buscemi) who run it, the sister (Edie Falco) who is trying to take control of the bar, and finally Uncle Pete (Alan Alda) who ran the bar before his nephews took over.

The premise is simple yet the unique, colourful family members and regular customers make each episode funny, realistic and, often, dark and sad. The show presents real life struggles and explores topics of mental health, politics, economy, and love in a most bold and raw way.

Unfortunately, the show has been cancelled after the first season because Louie C.K. funded the project himself and was unable to continue, as the system of paying for each episode on Louie C.K.'s website did not work as well as planned.

Nonetheless, the first and last season is worth a watch. It's a dark, comical journey into the issues surrounding a family at-odds in current day New York.
