10. Lawnmower Dog

A double parody mash-up from Rick and Morty here as they take on Inception, Lawnmower Man, and Friday The 13th at the same time.

When the dynamic pair head into Mr Goldenfold's dreams with the aim of getting Morty an A-grade in maths, they soon realise that they might be out of their depth.

Whilst they continue through the layers of Goldenfold's dream state, encountering some strange sexual ideas along the way, Rick and Morty end up meeting Scary Terry, a Freddy Krueger rip-off that was probably two more minutes of screentime away from a lawsuit. Meanwhile, in reality, Morty's dog Snowball has taken over the world with his army of mech suited, super-intelligent dogs.

The episode works on every level, both as an Inception parody and a Nightmare on Elm Street homage. Scary Terry became one of the show's most beloved one-off characters and the upending reveal of his family life was brilliantly funny to watch.
