While the entire episode wasn't non-stop laughs, the Simpsons/Futurama crossover got it right where the Simpsons/Family Guy mash-up just didn't seem to get it: it had the right tone, and nothing felt out of place. Highlights of the outing include Bart ruining the future, Homer trying to force both Santa's Little Helper and Bart to investigate strange noises coming from the basement, Homer and Bender quickly becoming friends, Scruffy's reaction to no longer having a mustache, and Homer finally finding a good outlet for his strangling habit. The lines of the episode are a tie - Bender exclaiming "You think robots care what some hack science fiction writer thinks? I killed Isaac Asimov on the way over here. Well, Isaac somebody" and Moe saying of Bender "Hey, this blade-rummy is alright!"
