2. Troy & Abed’s Christmas Rap

If you have a musical talent like Donald Glover on your books, you have to give him a chance to shine at some point. Despite his character being a Jehovah’s Witness, it turns out Christmas was the perfect time for this.

To be fair, the premise for the song is that he’s only pretending to like Christmas to infiltrate them on behalf of his own religion. He’ll be Jehovah’s most secret witness, after all. The song has a huge amount of lyrical cleverness, and as you’d expect of Childish Gambino, it’s delivered with impeccable timing.

As well as the ‘most secret witness’ line, ‘I’ll even cry during the sad ones like James Bond would’ plus Abed’s ‘Connoisseur of Christmas, on the spectrum? None of ya business!’ are all brilliant. Speaking of Abed, Danny Pudi does well to keep up here, but in a role reversal from the 101 Rap he’s definitely outshone.
