Thanksgiving is a time for family, for eating too much food, and for giving thanks for the past year.

And one thing we are certainly thankful for at this time of year is the number of amazing Thanksgiving episodes that TV has given us.

With all the talk of Christmas specials during the fast approaching holiday season, it's sometimes forgotten that there are some absolute stone cold TV classics which have been born out of the Thanksgiving theme.

From slap happy dinners to hay festivals to Black Friday chaos, here are 10 unique takes on the Thanksgiving holiday from some of TV's best shows.

10. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia - 'The Gang Squashes Their Beefs'

If you've watched even a second of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, you'll know the central premise is that the titular 'gang' are awful people. Like, hilariously awful. So it's no surprise that they've racked up a hell of a lot of enemies in their time and that comes back to bite them on the ass in this episode when they realise they can't rent a movie or eat the food they want because of unsquashed beefs with the owners of their favourite establishments.

To rectify the situation, the gang invite all their enemies to a Thanksgiving dinner in the hope they can bury the hatchet with them all and finally enjoy a nice holiday meal. To say its a misguided idea is an understatement and you'll be in fits of laughter once past characters start returning to air their frustrations with the gang.
