10. A Red Shower

True Blood season 1 was a simpler time, back when the weirdest moments were the fact Sookie was having sex with a vampire and Sam could turn into a dog.

The moment that really announced, ‘this is HBO, this is True Blood, welcome to Bon Temps’ was when Longshadow, the bartender at vampire bar Fangtasia, decided that it’d be a wise move to steal money from Pam and Eric. 

It, er, wasn’t.

Sookie used her telepathic abilities to find out the identity of the thief, which led to him attacking her and meeting the true death at the hands of Bill.

Cue what can only really be described as a shower of blood, or maybe projectile vomit of blood, guts and who knows what else, all over Sookie for a good 20-30 seconds or so before half-exploding, half-just-collapsing into a pile of bloody mush on the floor, while a blood soaked Sookie looks on.

It was super-gory, over-the-top, and brilliant in its ridiculousness, which set the tone for the rest of the series.
