Say what you will about modern day The Simpsons episodes, but the real dark ages were the show's teen years. Since the release of the movie and the series switching format to HD, however, The Simpsons has had something of a renaissance. It's not golden era Simpsons, but the sitcom has bounced back, and is once again producing quality episodes. Overall, the show has just been more consistent. It's golden era seasons were better, and more numerous. Within an episode, its laugh out loud moments are more balanced. Family Guy might have one huge laugh in every episode, but The Simpsons will always have four or five chuckles.
