There have been many versions of The Twilight Zone and its theme, but they all follow the same chilling motif; tapping into our imagination, scaring us with our own worst thoughts without ever giving anything away. With a glimpse of a monstrous image, or the shadows of something beyond the door, it teases but never tells. The voice over alluding to the Twilight zone, existing between light and shadow at the edge of reality, taps into that fear of something terrible lurking just out of the corner of your eye. You know it's there, but you can't see it.The Twilight Zone title sequence might not be as chilling as some entries on this list but it deserves its ranking because it acts as a prelude to many infamous TV title sequences that followed. The brilliant X Files title sequence too, with its suggestion of alien life and paranormal images, owes everything to the Twilight Zone. There are elements of the Twilight Zone title sequences that are still creepy in their own right. We chose the 1985 title sequence as the most chilling but only the 2002 title sequence seemed to miss the point entirely. Watch, enjoy and then check what's lurking beyond the door...
