10 Comic Book TV Shows Cancelled Before Their Time
3. Agent Carter (2015)
When Captain America: The First Avenger hit theatres in 2011, fans loved Agent Peggy Carter, who was played by Hayley Atwell. She was so well received by fans, in fact, that an entirely new series called Marvel's Agent Carter was greenlit by ABC for the network's 2015 season.
Agent Carter premiered to amazing ratings in its first season and helped to flesh out the character's origin, the creation of S.H.I.E.L.D., and other characters from the film and associated series, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Like every other show on this list, the series failed to maintain the ratings it pulled in when it was originally aired. It pushed out an opening season consisting of only eight episodes and was followed by a second season of ten, but that was it. The series was cancelled before it could come to a reasonable conclusion.
The series maintained a favorable rating among critics throughout its airing, but despite that and a positive fan following, ABC gave the series the axe. The character, as played by Atwell, continued to appear in other films within the MCU and was regularly referenced in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and other shows, but mostly disappeared from our television sets when the show met its untimely end.
