The Theory: Everyone's favorite hitman Mike Ehrmantraut took Jesse under his wing and tried to have a healthier father-like relationship with Jesse than Walt did. This led to some speculation on the internet that because there are some similarities between the characters and that Mike is concerned with Jesse's future, that Mike is actually Jesse from the future trying to guide his younger self on the correct path (which would mean that Walt did kill Jesse). Was It Possible: Not a chance. While there were some fantastic elements within the series, Vince Gilligan tried to keep the show grounded in reality. A strange and convoluted time travel plot just would not fit the style of the show. Working with Jesse started off as an assignment, but after a while, Mike felt that he could trust Jesse (more than Walt anyway). While Mike did come to care about what happened to Jesse, this was more than likely a simple case of empathy.
