Weve all heard this one; If somethings hard to do, then its not worth doing." Now we all know that its just a cartoon and quotes like that are meant for laughs, and not to be followed. Yet the lack of any follow up for the rest of the episode gives this quote a strange sense of profoundness. Usually when Homer sets a bad example for his children (from using a computer to change his grade in college, to blatant intolerance towards Barts new Muslim friends) he is always corrected by the end of the episode. Marge, Lisa or occasionally Flanders is always there to act as his moral compass and he always learns his lesson, thus sending the audience a positive message. However quotes like the one above and No matter how good you are at something theres always a million people better at you seem to go by without comeuppance. It seems like every now and then Homer gets away with his extreme laziness and ignorance towards life, and while that may work out for a fictional character, we dread to think how such an attitude would affect a persons life in the real world.
