10. Beth Chose Summer

In season three, Rick and Morty produced their own version of a clip show, though the clips weren't from past episodes, they were the memories Morty had had removed by his grandpa. After Rick's sidekick discovered them, he questioned why Rick would ever remove them, and spent the episode going through the things he'd been forced to forget.

Some were removed to spare Morty from some deep, emotional trauma, and others were memories where Rick embarrassed himself, and would rather his grandson forget. One of the darkest, and most horrible memories Morty forgot revolved around his mother, and certainly falls into the former category.

While she and her two children were held prisoner by an alien overlord, Beth was given the choice to save one of her offspring. The question was supposed to act as a form of torture for Rick's daughter, and she shouldn't have been able to choose between Summer and Morty. However, without a moment's hesitation, Beth saved her daughter.

If Rick hadn't dropped by at the right moment, Morty would have died knowing his mother preferred Summer over him, and condemned him to death for it.
