10 Depressing Truths Bojack Horseman Will Teach You
10. You Will Never Really Stop Loving Someone
There is a narrative taught to us that once a relationship is over, you need to move on from it to progress with your life positively. Dwelling on a past fling no matter how serious or minute will impact the rest of your dating life and possibly existence in general. But Bojack makes a point in its finale of highlighting how escaping from the feelings you have for people isn't an entirely believable goal.
The dynamic between Princess Caroline and Bojack has flickered between amicable and disdainful on so many occasions. But it is made clear very early on that their feelings for each other are almost exclusively platonic after their break-up. However, in their final scene of the show, they talk and dance, and it becomes clear that despite everything, there is still a romantic love shared between them, even if its only a little.
No matter what you do, you will never truly stop loving someone. It doesn't matter what happens, if you spent meaningful time with a person, then that love will always stay with you because it isn't a memory that you can erase.
It is a beautiful but haunting realisation that "moving on" never really happens.
