Frank Grimes, or "Grimy," as he liked to be called, was a co-worker of Homer's at the nuclear plant who just couldn't get over the fact that Homer managed to succeed despite his many failures as a human being - laziness, incompetence, and an unhealthy competitive streak. In the end, he wound up becoming Homer's enemy, in an episode that, for some baffling reason, was titled "Homer's Enemy." The end for Grimes was rather shocking: while lampooning Homer, he opted to grab a pair of high voltage wires without safety gloves, because he didn't have to, because "I'm Homer Simpson." It was his final act of sarcastic criticism. Unlike Homer, who really does survive every bump, bruise, bridge-closing-on-head, and electrocution, Grimes was quickly pronounced dead, buried, and no doubt got to watch from the great beyond as Homer fell asleep at his funeral. Disturbing mainly for the way Grimes went out, it was perhaps the funniest black comedy moment the series has had.
