10 Failed TV Series Pilots You Need To Watch

9. Justice League Of America

With the upcoming Batman vs Superman film in 2016 serving to start connecting the dots of a DC cinematic universe, people are already waiting eagerly for the first live-action debut of the Justice League. However, most people don't realise that the Justice League have already had their live-action debut back in 1997. Generally failed TV pilots fall into 2 categories: pilots that were great and interesting but unfortunately not picked up, and pilots that were so terrible that it was a blessing that the pilot was dropped. Unfortunately, the 1997 Justice League of America pilot by CBS falls into the category of 'so bad it's interesting'. There were numerous reasons why the Justice League pilot failed. The director and producers had no understanding of comic books or how to translate comic books to screen; Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman were dropped in favor for the wrong Green Lantern, Ice, Atom, Fire, and The Flash; what superheroes they did have acted nothing like their comic-book counterparts; the plot had more holes than a block of Swiss cheese; and the costumes and special effects were laughably bad. Despite all the poor reception to the film, in which critics have described it as 'Friends with superpowers', that description alone is enough to warrant at least one view out of morbid curiosity if nothing else. http://dai.ly/x2fx183
