The High Sparrow, played by the usually wonderful Jonathan Pryce, was introduced in season five as... well, what? A villain, essentially. Then again, nobody can really be classified as either a hero or a villain in Game of Thrones - it's that jaded morality that makes most characters on the show interesting, after all. That said, The High Sparrow is such a vaguely drawn character, boringly depicted, that it's hard to care about him in any way. If Game of Thrones is trying to make The High Sparrow into a figure of elusive evil that audiences are supposed to rally against in their masses, it ain't happening - he's another half-assed somebody to feel entirely indifferent about, because Jonathan Pryce plays him on a kind of autopilot. Live or die, is anyone really bothered about what happens to The High Sparrow?
