Shoot me down here if you must, but Tywin Lannister is quite possibly one of the greatest Thrones characters to feature on the show. His boss-like command, that cool, cold, calm demeanour, the sheer authority that surrounded him, it all added up to create a fantastic character that the show needed. Charles Dance did an excellent job with the head of the Lannister family, so much so that I wanted him to survive the whole damn winter, not because I liked Tywin, but because he was such a great character. His death was expertly done, with the dignified power-seeker being shot down by his rejected son in the most undignified manner, sitting on a very different kind of throne. It was a great moment, but even more so than Joffrey, there's a feeling that Tywin's 'bad guy' presence was a huge loss for King's Landing and the show itself.
