10 Great TV Shows With Awful First Seasons
9. BoJack Horseman
When looking at the best original TV shows and movies produced by Netflix, there has been some outstanding pieces created, but among those at the top of the list has to be BoJack Horseman.
It wouldn't have been expected of an animated show about a talking anthropomorphic horse, and the ridiculous hi-jinx of Todd (Aaron Paul), but rarely has there been a story that has taken a deeper and more profound look at serious issues, the likes of addiction, anxiety, loss, and the struggle to find happiness, while still maintaining an impressive level of entertainment at the same time.
As the years went by, and the lives of BoJack (Will Arnett) and those around him were dissected even further, it just got better and better, with the penultimate episode, The View from Halfway Down, being not only one of the strongest episodes of BoJack Horseman, but one of the greatest episodes in TV history.
To call the first season awful may be a little harsh, but it is lightyears away from the peerless masterpiece it would ultimately become. There were some deep moments to be sure, but it leant far more into the goofy and the wacky than the powerful storytelling it achieved in the later years.
