10 Great TV Shows With Awful First Seasons
4. Star Wars: The Clone Wars
The Star Wars prequels have never been particularly well received with the majority of fans, though it's fair to say such judgement has largely been reassessed in the wake of the sequels' release. However, a TV series set between episodes II and III was always likely to be a tough sell.
In particular, the fact that season one followed The Clone Wars movie, which was truly awful, didn't help. The episodic installments of the Clone Wars improved on the small screen, but not by much.
The stories rarely carried much weight, and too many of the episodes felt like filler. Thankfully however, the story was continued, and the series ultimately became one of the most beloved properties in the entire Star Wars catalogue.
A deeper look at the Wars in general, and much of Anakin Skywalker's (Matt Lanter) life that was glossed over in a time jump between films, as well as his relationship with Obi-Wan (James Arnold Taylor), the development of Ahsoka Tano (Ashley Eckstein), and the return of Darth Maul (Sam Witwer), among many other things, made The Clones Wars worth sticking around for after a rocky start. In fact, there are few better things to watch in all of Star Wars than the final four episodes of the seventh season.
